Kunqu Society Kunqu Performance and Kunqu Singing Party Remembering Chung-ho Chang Frankel and the American Kunqu Pioneers

The Kunqu Society will give a special Kunqu performance on Saturday, December 12, from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm, for the commemoration for the outstanding Kunqu artist, poet and calligrapher Mrs. Chung-ho Chang Frankel and the Kunqu Pioneers: Mr. Hans Frankel, Mr. Fang-Kuei Li, Mrs. Ying Hsu Li, Mr. Hsin-wu Hsiang Mrs. Yuan-ho Chang Koo and Ms. Yu-Chuen Lou, who introduced the Kunqu performing art to America through lectures, performances and teaching programs, from 1950 to 1985.

This event are co-sponsored by the Kunqu Society(NYC), the Society of Kunqu Art (Maryland) and the Chinese Kwun Opera Society (CA). It features a Kunqu performance followed by a Kunqu Singing Party by Kunqu lovers, from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm at Flushing Town Hall (137-35 Northern Blvd., Flushing, NY 11354 ) Famous Kunqu artists Mr. Min Cheng, Ms. Michelle Ling Yang, senior members of the Kunqu Societies Daisy Huang, Yurong Xin, Dongmei Cui, Liyuen Wang, together with well-known Chinese musicians Mr. Shirong Huang, Mr. Tao Chen, Mr. Jingqiang  Guo,  Ms. Yi Zhou will perform four Kunqu classics: “The Interrupted Dream”, “Dreamland Revisited” , “Encounter at the Pavilion” and “A Maddening  Dream”. Kunqu Members, friends and guests will hold a Kunqu singing party after the performance.
